The confidence index on modern trade rose in the fourth quarter of last year, from the previuos quarter, ahead of the country's election and the five-per cent value added tax (VAT) refund on purchases during the forthcoming Chinese New Year, according to a survey by the Centre for Business and Economic Forecasting University under the Thai Chamber of Commerce.
